MONDAY EVENING BLAST FROM THE CORTLAND CRUSH
CORTLAND, NY- Good Evening Crush fans, to start the week off right here is a look at how some of our players are doing for their respective schools to start the season.
In his first game for Hampden-Sydney College, Bradford pitched two scoreless innings of one-hit baseball. He walked two batters and struck out four over those two innings.
In his second game of the season for Trinity University on Saturday, February 15, MJ Metz went 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. He also did not leave any runners on base during the game.
On Sunday, February 23, Erik handed in a strong season debut in which he struck out the side (meaning every out in the inning came via the strikeout) in his only inning of work. Erik closed out an 8-4 Oswego win with this strong inning.
On Sunday, February 16, Nicolas Graziano pitched four innings in his first start of the season for Hampden-Sydney College. He allowed three runs over those four innings while also striking out two batters.
Over his first five games of the season with Northwestern University, Evan has amassed 4 hits to go along with one run batted in, one walk, and two runs scored. Northwestern has played to a 3-3 record over their first 6 games of the season.
In his first four games of play with SUNY Brockport this weekend, Nick collected a combined four hits to go along with three runs scored and a stolen base. Brockport finished the weekend with a record of 1-3 after playing two games against Ferrum College and two games against Alfred State.
In his first outing of the season for the Ithaca Bombers, Garrett pitched one solid inning. He struck out three hitters and left two runners on base, closing out an 8-2 Bombers victory over Virginia Wesleyan, their first victory of the season.
Harry has made two pitching appearances so far this season for the Pomona-Pitzer College Sagehens. In his first outing on February 8, Harry handed in a strong performance throwing four scoreless innings. He only allowed two hits and struck out three en route to the first win of his college career! In his second out on February 22, he was solid again only allowing two unearned runs over 3.1 innings pitched.
In three games this past weekend against the Caltech Beavers, David collected two hits and worked three walks proving to be a tough out for the Caltech pitching staff. He also drove in a run and scored one himself over the three-game span.
On February 16, Jed made his first appearance of the season for the Le Moyne Dolphins. In his 2.2 innings of work, Jed was strong only allowing one hit while striking out two batters out of the bullpen.
Cal made his first pitching performance of the season with Northeastern State in February, playing a vital part in the team’s first victory of the season that day. Cal threw three innings of one-run baseball while only surrendering two-hit as he recorded the win in the process.
Making his season debut for Northeastern State on the same day, Quinten also helped lead the team to victory by turning in a solid performance as well. Quinten tossed one inning in which he only allowed 2 hits, one unearned run, and stroke out a batter as well.
